Born in the California mountain paradise of Lake Tahoe, Michelle got her start the way most young skiers do, on the ski team at her local mountain. And even though she became very good, very fast — like, X-Games good — she quickly found that her true passion blossomed deep in the backcountry. After cutting her teeth in the Alaskan backcountry, Michelle has become one of the most sought after women in big-mountain skiing, starring in dozens of films and even winning the 2019 Powder Awards for Best Female Performance. She’s got a message too:“The outdoors industry is bigger than fossil fuels and pharmaceuticals,”she said while accepting the award.“Stand up...If you don’t use your voice no one will hear you.”
