Mia Brookes is the youngest ever world champion in the history of snowboarding. Born in Sandbach, Cheshire, she started out in the sport when she was just eighteen months old - stepping onto a snowboard as soon as she could walk at the Kidsgrove Ski Centre in Stoke. She spent much of her childhood in the family motorhome driving around the peaks of Europe and honing her skill on the slopes. Her parents, Vicky and Nigel, lived in Chamonix for five seasons and hugely encouraged their daughter’s love of the snow. She got the bug, and it’s safe to say she’s never looked back since.

At just sixteen years old she won slopestyle gold in Georgia to become Britain’s first-ever world champion in the event. More recently, she won the World Cup silver in Laax in January - an event she had watched for six years from the sidelines before being able to compete in it herself. To say it was a dream come true would be an understatement. While other athletes stayed in nearby apartments, Mia chose to stay in her motorhome with her creature comforts - her guitar and trusty electric blanket.

In early 2023 she was one of only eight riders to get an invite to the prestigious X games where she was crowned World Champion.  Mia became the first female snowboarder to land a 1440 trick as well as being the first to land a cab 12 in competition. Sadly, she was too young to compete at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing but has her sights set firmly on the 2026 Games in Milan-Cortina. Mia places a huge emphasis on fun in her competitive journey, but with talent like hers, it’s hard to ignore that prime spot on the podium. It’s truly an honor to have Mia join the Db family - she’s part of snowboarding history, and now part of our ambassador program too.
