While the world’s been closed, I’ve made banana bread. I’m taking the Wim Hof course. My neighbors went from people that lived nearby to my community. I made a different kind of banana bread. I’m indulging in the little things.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you say. You’ve read all the books. You’ve watched all the shows. Your apartment is clean and organized. There are only so many silver linings you can find — you’re ready to get back to normal. Shit, I guess I am too. My banana bread is getting stale.
But freedom feels like it’s just around the corner, doesn’t it? Like earth will soon have its Open sign up and glowing. We’re so close! When it happens, though, let’s try to carry with us the lessons we learned in lockdown. So when you book a plane ticket and buy a festival pass and dance wildly and kiss a stranger, remember: you can now make that stranger banana bread. And that’s not nothing.
P.S. Here’s the Wim Hof course, if you want to hold your breath and take cold showers.
